Trevon Diggs sets mark no NFL player has accomplished in 40 years!

It's safe to say that he's pretty good at this football thing!

The Dallas Cowboys certainly are fortunate to have Trevon Diggs on their roster.

The 51st overall pick from the 2020 NFL Draft has amassed 11 interceptions so far in 2021, the most that any NFL player has picked off in 40 years. He's also only three interceptions shy of the all-time record that was set in 1952.

And he's drawn the attention of Hall of Famer cornerback Deion Sanders.

“I think Diggs has been phenomenal,” Sanders said on the Rich Eisen Show. “I truly hadn’t had a chance to study him or watch him right. But what he’s accomplished is phenomenal. Of course, the next phase is going man to man against the best man every week, then you get the accolades and the talk of the guys who’ve been doing it for years. A guy like Patrick Peterson came out of the womb to play man to man against the opponent’s best receiver. Jalen Ramsey, same way. You’re going to get balls, they’re not going to throw away from you because that’s their best. That kid can play and I’m proud of him. What he’s doing out there on the field for cornerbacks, I’m proud of.”

Should he grab another interception, the 23 year old Diggs will become the first player with over 11 picks in a season since Lester Hayes in 1980 as a member of the Oakland Raiders.

"I'm happy I reached it, but I didn't know that I was going to reach it," Diggs said last month. "It's just a blessing and I'm truly just happy that I can represent the Star, represent my team and go out there and give it all I've got."
