Cowboys fans may have gotten their final glimpse of quarterback Will Grier on Saturday, as he helped lead Dallas to victory in their last pre-season game of the schedule before the real fun begins next month.
Grier, who threw for over 300 yards while also finding the end zone four times, was emotional in the locker room afterward.
"At the end of the day I just relied on the fact that I know how to play football," Grier said. "And I'm good at it. I knew when the game started, I could just play football, and that's what I did."
"I think my play speaks for itself," Grier said. "I'm a team-first guy…at the end of the day it's a numbers thing. It's just part of the job I signed up for. It's hard, it's tough, because you get close to people. But at the same time, I'm going to be just fine. Everybody is going to be fine."
Grier has been made expendable after the Cowboys brought in quarterback Trey Lance from the San Francisco 49ers in a trade earlier this week. For quarterback Dak Prescott, who served as play caller during last night's game, he couldn't say enough good things about Grier.
"That man just played his ass off. That's who Will is," Dak said. "That's who Will's been since the time he's been here. It was awesome that he got to go out there and put that performance on display and hope the rest of the league saw that and took notice."
The 28 year old quarterback, who was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the third round in the 2019 NFL Draft, came to the Cowboys after being claimed on waivers in 2021.
