Cowboys inform kicker Lirim Hajrullahu of his fate

Is this the right decision?

It looks as though the Dallas Cowboys have settled their kicking situation after making the decision during the offseason not to retain the services of Greg Zuerlein, who had a rough 2021 season.

Earlier today, the team informed kicker Lirim Hajrullahu that he's been waived, which means that Brett Maher is the only kicker on the roster heading into Friday's exhibition game against the Seattle Seahawks.

According to head coach Mike McCarthy, the team has trust in Maher's numbers.

“We trust Brett’s numbers," he said earlier today. "This cut is tough and we felt Brett was in front and we decided to give him the opportunity”

Hajrullahu was 16 of 18 in eight games with the New Orleans Saints last season.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys also made the decision to cut cornerback Quandre Mosely and receiver Jaquarii Roberson. Additionally, Christian Sam was waived with an injury designation.
