With the 26th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys decided to beef up their defense by taking University of Michigan defensive tackle Mazi Smith.
"It's like Christmas," head coach Mike McCarthy said from Smith's first official press conference. "When you look at all the work that goes into it, going back to his [Official] 30 visit, and just what a great fit he is for us … I just want him to be himself. He is a great fit for us."
And if you can believe it, Smith himself came out and said today that he doesn't even care for the game of football, but that he just simply enjoys hitting people!
"I don't do no talking. We get straight after it, I'm trying to hit you. ... I don't got nothin' to say. I don't even like football. I like hitting people," Smith said.
Last season with Michigan, Smith earned first-team All-Big Ten honors while racking up 48 tackles. Just how many will he get with the Cowboys in his first NFL season?
