Cowboys WR Michael Gallup won't be ready for Week 1

The wideout admitted as much earlier today.

A torn ACL brought an end to what was a trying season for Dallas Cowboys wideout Michael Gallup in terms of injury. The pending free-agent injured his calf in his team's opening season game against the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers and didn't return to action until Week 10; the ACL injury was suffered late in the season against the Arizona Cardinals.

However, the Cowboys saw fit to extend him, signing him to a five year contract worth $62.5 million this March. And while his work with director of rehabilitation Britt Brown has been positive, Gallup himself said that it's not realistic for him to be able to be ready to play by the time the Cowboys Week 1 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rolls around.

Gallup has spent the first four years of his NFL career with Dallas after they selected him in the 3rd round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Upon his arrival in Dallas, he signed a four year contract worth $3,523,980 that also included a handsome $889,980 signing bonus.
