Late last month, news broke that Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore was officially leaving the team, though the parting was apparently mutual. He's since found new employment as the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers.
He was the latest in coaching departures from the Cowboys, that included offensive line coach Joe Philbin, running backs coach Skip Peete and senior defensive assistant George Edwards. Additionally, assistant head coach Rob Davis, quality control/analytics coach Kyle Valero and assistant defensive line coach Leon Lett will not be back with the team in 2023.
And there was one particular member of the organization who wasn't very happy with Moore's departure, and it's the focal point of the offense - quarterback Dak Prescott.
Per Blogging the Boys:
“I’m upset but I’m happy for him,” Prescott told The Dallas Morning News as he walked out of the Phoenix Convention Center following a Super Bowl Radio Row appearance for one of his sponsors.
Moore had been the offensive coordinator for the Cowboys since 2019, and he and Prescott certainly enjoyed plenty of regular season success together. It's understandable that Prescott wouldn't be happy of his departure, but also was classy enough to include that he was happy for Moore's new gig in Hollywood.
The Cowboys have since hired a new offensive coordinator in Brian Schottenheimer, though the team had already stated that it's going to be head coach Mike McCarthy who is officially in charge of the offense.
