The Dallas Cowboys didn't exactly get off to the start that they wanted in the 2022 NFL season this past weekend. Not only did they drop a 19-3 contest against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but they also suffered a litany of injuries that included Dak Prescott, Connor McGovern, and Jayron Kearse.
For Prescott, he's since undergone hand surgery and will be missing a minimum of eight weeks. And while Cowboys owner and general manger Jerry Jones has made no indication that he'll be looking to acquire another quarterback, ESPN's Dan Orlovsky has another view.
“Trade for Tyler Huntley,” Orlovsky said on the ESPN program Get Up. “If I was the Dallas Cowboys, that would be the phone call I would make. It would not be to San Francisco for Jimmy Garoppolo, I would call Baltimore and trade for Tyler Huntley.”
The former Utah product certainly won't be getting any regular playing time soon as he's behind NFL ex-MVP Lamar Jackson. And according to Orlovsky, if the Cowboys don't acquire quarterback help, they have no shot at success this year.
“If they don’t make a move, their season is over. But their upcoming schedule is not awful, this is not a division that is absolutely loaded nor a conference that is incredibly high-end," he said. "Tyler Huntley is a player who has proven to be a pretty good talent… The [Cowboys’] offensive line could not protect, he’s mobile enough to cover that up… If they [trade for Huntley,] they have a chance to save the season.”
