Dallas Cowboys reportedly make decision on coach Mike McCarthy
Are they making the right call?
Immediately after the Dallas Cowboys dropping their Wild Card playoff matchup against the San Francisco 49ers last night at AT&T Stadium, speculation immediately began to build that the Cowboys could decide to move on from head coach Mike McCarthy.
However, that has apparently been put to rest. Dallas EVP Stephen Jones appeared Monday on 105.3 The Fan, and stated that McCarthy will “absolutely” retain his position as head coach.
"Absolutely. Very confident," Jones responded.
Last night's game ended in bizarre fashion as the team wasn't able to spike the ball in time as time ticked off, and it was Umpire Ramon George who collided with Prescott as he was attempting to do so.
"The execution between us and the official spotting the ball obviously wasn't in tune," McCarthy said of the final play. "We shouldn't have had any problem getting the ball spotted there."
McCarthy went on to say that he was "shocked" that his team didn't get one more opportunity to find the end zone, and also defended his OC Kellen Moore's decision to have quarterback Dak Prescott run 17 yards on the prior play despite having no timeouts.
"Do you want to be running a Hail Mary play from the 50-yard line or do you want to run five verticals form the 25-yard line?" McCarthy said. "So, that's the decision, it's the right decision."
