Detroit Lions shock the world, finally win a game
They won't go winless after all.
Absolutely nothing had gone right for the Detroit Lions this season, as they came into this afternoon's divisional matchup at Ford Field against the Minnesota Vikings riding a 15 game winless skid that dated back exactly 364 days.
And the misery appeared on the verge of continuing as Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins connected with Justin Jefferson in the end zone to re-take the lead over the Lions with under two minutes remaining in regulation.
However, the Lions were able to finally snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Maligned first-year Lions quarterback Jared Goff found Aman Ra-St. Brown in the end zone as time expired after leading his team down the field, walking it off for the home team and finally giving Detroit that elusive 1st victory of the season.
Think Lions radio broadcaster Dan Miller was excited? Take a listen for yourself:
How about first year Lions head coach Dan Campbell?
"As far as it pertains to us, I'm proud of our guys," Campbell would say in his postgame press conference. "They fought, they've continued to fight all year and it paid dividends today. We found a way to win when we needed to."
"I'm happy for them, of course I'm happy," he continued. "We're all happy, I'm happy for the coaches and everyone. But you want this so bad for the players, man. They're the ones who put in all the hard work, sweat and tears. So do the coaches, but that's what makes this great. When you lose, it hurts and it's hard. But it's also why winning is so great in this League and when you do, it's special."
The Lions will have a chance to make it two in a row next week when they pay a visit to the Mile High city for a matchup against the Denver Broncos.
