The Dallas Cowboys and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore mutually parted ways yesterday afternoon, and it was announced that it would be head coach Mike McCarthy taking over the offensive play calls for next season.
In the meantime, Moore was looked at as a highly touted commodity that wouldn't be unemployed for long. And less than 24 hours after leaving the Cowboys, he's already found his next gig.
It was announced earlier this afternoon that Moore has accepted the role as offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers.
Prior to the hiring, Chargers coach Brandon Staley explained what he was looking for in his new offensive coordinator.
"The offenses that I think are the most challenging to defend ... are the ones that put a lot of pressure on you every snap, in terms of marrying the run game to the pass game, putting a lot of pressure on you with personnel groupings, pace, motion, and being able to get the explosions consistently," Staley said.
Moore had been in his role as Cowboys offensive coordinator since 2019. He led the Dallas offense to top four finishes in points per game (27.7), yards per game (391) and third-down conversion percentage (44%).
