It's a great day to to be a New York Giants fan, as they've officially clinched their first postseason berth since the 2016 NFL season thanks to their victory this afternoon at MetLife Stadium over the visiting Indianapolis Colts. They've officially locked the the No. 6 seed in the NFC, and will be taking their show on the road for their Wild Card game.
However, there was an incident over the course of the afternoon that certainly had fans holding their breaths. Colts quarterback Nick Foles was sacked by Kayvon Thibodeaux, and appeared to have suffered a serious injury. And while he was being tended to by medical personnel, Thibodeaux appeared to mock Foles by busting out the "going to sleep" celebration and also doing snow angels on the field:
Foles would eventually be carted off the field and replaced by Sam Ehlinger.
Now, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that Thibodeaux didn't know that Foles was injured in the heat of the moment. However, it's still not a good look for him.
It was a strong game otherwise for the emerging star, as he recorded four tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss against the Colts as the Giants clinched the postseason for the first time since the 2006 NFL season.
Was he out of line for his actions as Foles writhed in pain on the field just a short distance away? Or are those calling for Thibodeaux to apologize taking it too far? You be the judge on this one.
