One of the great offensive playmakers in recent memory, Le'Veon Bell established himself in the National Football League after having played college football with the Michigan State Spartans. Over the course of his career, Bell would suit up for the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
However, he made his thoughts on now-former New York Jets head coach Adam Gase quite clear, while also stating that he wishes that his former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach in Mike Tomlin could have been in charge of the Jets at the same time he was suiting up for them.
While making an appearance on The Steel Here podcast with co-hosts Kevin Adams and Jersey Jerry, Bell blasted Gase's play calling for what he thought wasn't getting him enough touches.
“The play calling was terrible,” Bell told the show. “It was a lot of things that were not going the way that obviously should have been going.”
“[Mike Tomlin’s] a legitimate, honest man,” Bell said. “He’s a guy who will look in your face, whether you like what he says or not, he gonna tell you the truth…when I went to New York, it was a lot of secrets. It was a lot of secrets.”
Bell also said that quarterback Sam Darnold didn't even fully understand his role under Gase, who was fired in 2020 by the team.
“Sam Darnold doesn’t even know like the actual protection or what the line’s protecting because he’s so confused about our offense because the coach is confusing him,” he said.
