Mason Rudolph shares true feelings on Antonio Brown

Controversial former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is coming back to play football, albeit in the National Arena League with the Albany Empire. 

His NFL career appeared to abruptly come to an end in early 2022 when he made headlines across sports pages everywhere by seemingly quitting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at MetLife Stadium by bizarrely walking off the field; he would be cut by the team immediately afterward and hasn't played in the NFL since. 

Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers have made the call to bring back quarterback Mason Rudolph to compete for the backup position along with Mitchell Trubisky behind starter Kenny Pickett. What would Rudolph think of potentially throwing passes to Brown at some point once again? 

While speaking with Jersey Jerry of the Steel Here podcast and Barstool Sports, Rudolph voiced his thoughts on Brown with whom he played one season: 

“Jerry, can you put together some lucrative offer that would lure him away from the rap game,” Rudolph joked. “I don’t know. Last I saw he was at Miami Rolling Loud and had a huge crowd. It’s wishful thinking.”

“What a hard worker and what a great teammate,” Rudolph said. “Of course, there was a big personality and the media loved that. He was great to the rookies, was great to me. Somehow, he was always asking to catch. This guy’s work ethic was insane. He was at training camp in 2018, waking up at 4 a.m. with his trainer doing Olympic lifts in the weight room. Just the way he worked was incredible to watch. We always used to look in awe. Like, it’s 4:30 and AB is in the weight room. He was a sixth-round pick and was a grinder.”

Could there be a potential reunion in the works at some point down the road, or is that just a long shot of wishful thinking?
