The Aaron Rodgers era is officially over in Green Bay, as they finally moved on from the controversial quarterback by trading him to the New York Jets. This means that the starter's role finally belongs to Jordan Love, whom the Packers drafted in 2020.
However, it appears as though not quite everything is running smoothly - at least, not yet. The Packers are in the midst of OTA's, and earlier this week, head coach Matt LaFleur had a less than stellar update on how Love has been performing.
“A lot of good things and a lot to clean up,” LaFleur said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com.
He continued:
"I think you gotta be mindful and aware of where you are but at the same time, you can put them in those situations — it’s not like he’s a true rookie. He’s seen a decent amount, especially being able to get the majority of the snaps this time of year the last couple of years,” said LaFleur.
“We’re not necessarily coddling him in any sense of the word. We’re installing our plays and whatever the defense presents, I mean, he’s gotta react. If it gets out of hand one way or another then you can adjust, but I think he’s done a pretty good job up to this point.”
The Packers are certainly going to need more out of Love if they have any intention of justifying ditching Aaron Rodgers!
