What exactly does the future hold for Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy?
He's heading into the postseason with his third straight winning season under his belt, but the real test will come once the regular season ends. The Cowboys have endured two straight disappointing postseason exits at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, and there are some whispers that McCarthy's job status is "unsettled" if they go through yet another early exit.
ESPN's Adam Schefter has apparently heard from "some people" that a change could potentially be made if there's another disappointing postseason performance.
"There continues to be a feeling from people around the league, and even some within the Cowboys organization, that coach Mike McCarthy will be measured by how Dallas' final game goes."
"Some people'' are also allegedly whispering to Schefter, "If the Cowboys play well in the postseason, McCarthy would have an excellent chance to keep his job. But if they struggle and end the season with an embarrassing loss, as has happened in each of the past two years, then some say that change could come to Dallas."
Should the Cowboys go in a different direction if they fail to advance far in the playoffs and win the championships that's eluded them since their dynasty days of the mid 1990s?
