Defense back Jalen Carter, who was taken in the 1st round of the National Football League Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, was named as a defendant in a $40 million lawsuit filed by Devin Willock's father stemming from the car crash that killed Willock along with Chandler LeCroy, a Georgia football staffer.
Carter and Willock played together at Georgia, who had just won a second straight national championship. Willock was killed as a result of injuries suffered in a vehicle accident just hours after the team celebration; LeCroy and Carter were reportedly street racing.
However, the University of Georgia Athletic Association has countered with the following statement:
"The attorneys who filed the complaint have refused to provide any factual basis for their claims against the athletic association, and we believe the evidence will prove them to be without merit," it said. "We intend to strongly dispute these baseless allegations in Court."
