Is this what's going to happen?

The deadline came and went yesterday, and there was no long-term deal reached between the Dallas Cowboys and running back Tony Pollard. This means that he'll be playing out the upcoming 2023 NFL season on the franchise tag, earning a total of $10.091 million.
But for Cowboys fans who are hoping that eventually a long-term deal can be reached, you may want to look away from the following prediction that comes from ESPN's Todd Archer. In Archer's mind, this will be Pollard's last season with the Cowboys.
“It’s highly likely this will be Pollard’s final season with the Cowboys—and it would have little to do with Pollard and everything else to do with the Cowboys dealing with their salary cap in 2024 and beyond,” he said recently.
Last season, Pollard racked up 1,007 rushing yards on 5.2 yards per attempt with nine touchdowns. Right now, he's the main running back on the team after they made the choice to cut Ezekiel Elliott loose; Elliott remains a free agent.
