Tempers flared at a recent Green Bay Packers joint practice with the Cincinnati Bengals ahead of their preseason opener, as there were punches thrown by offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins against Bengals defensive tackle D.J. Reader and was ejected from the session.
“Emotions get high,” Green Bay left tackle David Bakhtiari said. “I know (Jenkins will) never do it in the game. He’s never done that in the game. So, the practice, I mean, it’s a little bit different. You know you shouldn’t, but you also know there’s no consequences.”
Additionally, Packers offensive lineman Jon Runyan Jr. and Romeo Doubs ended up in a scuffle as well.
Meanwhile, Reader clapped back at Jenkins in a big way through the media, saying that he doesn't even know who he is and the fact that he once played with future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers is a nothing burger.
"Man, he's a JAG, man," Reader said, via ESPN. "I don't know that guy. No idea who he is. I mean, I see he made two Pro Bowls, so good for him, but he blocked for Aaron Rodgers. That don't make you nobody."
The war of the words is on! The two teams will play each other in Cincinnati for the preseason opener later this week. Will we see any additional fireworks?
