The Pittsburgh Steelers have made the inexplicable decision to retain heavily maligned offensive coordinator Matt Canada despite the fact that his team was ranked 2nd to last in the NFL this season in total touchdowns scored. As you can imagine, the decision was met with plenty of backlash from both fans and media members alike.
Regardless, Steelers players such as Najee Harris and Kenny Pickett have voiced their support for Canada, endorsing his communication and saying that ultimately, they're the ones responsible for making plays on the field.
In the meantime, Canada's tenure as offensive coordinator has been panned by football analyst Steven Ruiz, who said that he's not the figure to get the most out of their offensive players.
“I have questions about Matt Canada,” said Ruiz. “Even if the line is better, it’s nowhere near the offensive lines around the league and I don’t think that Canada is good enough to get the most out of this offense.”
It goes without saying that this is going to be a critical year for Canada and the Steelers, and if their offensive numbers don't improve, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the team go in a different direction.
