The Dallas Cowboys turned in a dominating performance on the afternoon against the Carolina Panthers at AT&T Stadium, giving their guests their first loss of the season thanks to an overwhelming offensive onslaught.
While quarterback Dak Prescott tossed four touchdown passes, running back Ezekiel Elliott controlled the ground game with 20 carries for a total of 143 yards (his most since 2018) and a touchdown.
"They're a good defense," Elliott said afterwards. "They bring a lot of different fronts. They run a lot of different things so they're going to change it up on you. They haven't seen an offense like us this year."
It was another vintage performance for Prescott, who threw for 188 yards while tossing TD passes to Blake Jarwin, Amari Cooper, Dalton Schulz and Cedrick Wilson. Spreading the offensive wealth around certainly works in everyone's favor, as Prescott attested to.
"Just being able to mix it around, get it in different guys' hands," Prescott said. "All these guys are great. The next guy's going to try to make a touchdown if they don't get theirs with their opportunity."
Meanwhile, the Dallas defense sacked Panthers QB Sam Darnold five times on the afternoon, while Trevon Diggs picked up his fifth interception in the first four games of the season, a new Cowboys team record.
“Player of the month, working on his second month of the season,” coach Mike McCarthy said of Diggs. “He’s playing with phenomenal confidence. Obviously a big responsibility watching their top receiver. Delivered with two huge plays there in the second half.”
The Cowboys will now prepare to face the New York Giants, who picked up their first win of the season this afternoon.
