Go ahead and count cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon among the players that will not be back with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023.
He was officially informed by the team that he's being cut this afternoon, which will save $4 million against the salary cap.
In 2021, he would lead the team in interceptions despite only being able to suit up in three games. He entered 2022 with visions of being the lead cornerback on the roster, but his season was derailed by a hamstring injury.
He would ultimately appear in 13 total games during his time with the Steelers, racking up three interceptions and 11 pass breakups along with 35 total tackles. He began his NFL career as a third round selection by San Francisco 49ers, and also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks.
