Now that's what he like to hear!
Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard says that he will be ready to go for Training Camp when the team gathers in Oxnard, California in late July.
“I’m a little bit ahead of schedule,” Pollard told the media this week about where things stand with his rehab from the injury. “I’m not really limited at this point, it’s just being smart with it.”
As you may remember, Pollard's emergence was one of the reasons why the team was comfortable with cutting ties with former 2016 Round 1 draft pick Ezekiel Elliott, who has yet to find a new NFL team. For Pollard, he was grateful for what he learned from the veteran running back.
“I’m definitely ready for the opportunity,” Pollard said. “Having a vet like Zeke here for the years that I was here with him, it was a great learning experience for me to see how you’re supposed to handle things as a vet and the older guy in the room."
Pollard underwent surgery after suffering an injury in the Cowboys' playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and he remains ahead of schedule as Training Camp approaches.
"I would say I'm not really limited at this point," he said. "It's just being smart with it, just trying to work my way back in slowly and make sure I'm in tip-top shape when I get out there so it's not a fall off."
What kind of season can Cowboys fans expect to see from Pollard in 2023? Last season, he earned a Pro Bowl nomination for racking up a career-high 1,007 yards on 193 carries with nine touchdowns, while also hauling in 39 passes for 371 yards and three touchdowns.
