WOAH: 49ers privately rip QB Trey Lance after injury
Man, this isn't a good look for the team.
The 2022 season is over for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance, who was carted off the field during yesterday's game at Levi Stadium after suffering a broken ankle. Fans in attendance were once again treated to seeing Jimmy Garoppolo under center for the 49ers, who had repeatedly been trying to trade him for months.
Garoppolo led the 49ers to victory, a 27-7 triumph over their division rival Seattle Seahawks, while going 13-of-21 passing for 154 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions.
But afterward, it seems as though more than a few figures in the 49ers locker room believe that the team is better off with Jimmy G. at quarterback, as evidenced by a report from Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle.
“This is the part no one wants to say publicly, but something several players and coaches enunciated privately in the wake of Sunday’s game—the 49ers are a better team right now with Garoppolo at quarterback than they were with Lance,” Silver wrote.
Two sources even told Silver, “I can’t say it, but you can.”
That's certainly a bold allegation to make, and it certainly would be beneath a journalist like Silver to make something like that up.
